Secret Avengers #4 (2014)

Cover:

Why does everyone look so weird and off in this cover?  Also, why is that guy on the right puckering his lips?

Plot:

Nick Fury, Hawkeye, and a couple of redshirts head into a city that shouldn’t exist anymore to track down the Fury, that robot thingy from the first issue that I thought was lost in space.

Our Heroes:

Oh ho ho, that’s funny.  People were just slaughtered viciously in front of you, but there’s always time to joke around!

Our Villain:

Defeated by a mushroom gun.  Tsk tsk.  I expected more from a killer bio-robot honestly.

Our Side Characters:

Hill has a point.  I mean look at you two!  Complete opposites!

Action:

When the guy says to get out of the way, get out of the way of the killer robot thingy!

Dialogue:

Oh ho ho, that’s funny.  People were just slaughtered viciously in front of you, but there’s always time to joke around!

Art:

There really shouldn’t be two bald-headed guys in the same uniform with less detailed artwork.  For a second there, I thought Fury was stabbed there.

Most Memorable Moment:

Impaled with extreme prejudice!

Final Page:

Dammit, someone filled the tube with Kool-Aid again!

What We Should Take from This Comic:

Despite what MODOK is saying, Maria Hill is not some cold-hearted person who doesn’t care about her agents.  After all, nothing shown in this entire comic has shown she is like that.  Also, there’s a traitor in the mist.

What We Do Take From This Comic:

No one understands the concept of “Get out of the way”.

Yay or Nay?

Meh

Detective Comics #32 (2014)

Cover:

You once saw Batman fight a shark, but can he fight a squid?

Plot:

Batman continues to investigate the death of Elena Aguila and find out who exactly killed her with the Icarus drug.  Meanwhile, Detective Bullock remains focused on Bruce Wayne for being the cause of this.

Our Hero:

Batman’s got a point.  No one is really all that subtle are they?

Our Villain:

He seems to have a very James Bond like trap setup in his place, doesn’t he?

Our Side Characters:

You know, I always expected Bullock to be more of a dog person honestly.

Action:

Batman Vs. Squid!  He’s fought sharks, lions, and horses before, but it’s now time to do a real challenge!

Dialogue:

I’m pretty sure this video will be taken down from Q-Tube sir for violating their guidelines.

Art:

Oh my god the colors!!  Soooo beautiful!

Most Memorable Moment:

See what I said about the action.

Final Page:

Looks like we got ourselves an old fashion Mexican standoff.

What We Should Take from This Comic:

While Detective Bullock is heading down the wrong track with who he should be investigating, Batman himself isn’t fairing any better with situations he is getting himself into.  Will they uncover the mystery behind everything?

What We Do Take From This Comic:

Batman fought a giant squid and man did it look beautiful!

Yay or Nay?
