Plot:

After a disastrous fight with Deathbird and realizing how dangerous her brain lesion can be, Captain Marvel is grounded and needs to figure out what to do next.

Our Hero:

She’s had better days than this.

Our Villain:

His power is to control birds… from what I gathered.

Our Side Characters:

You think the little girl would not better not to dress up as the villain that messed with Carol.

Action:

Flying motorcycle to the back!

Carol does not understand your science talk doctor.

I think Captain Marvel needs to lift some weights.  Her arms look dangerously skinny at points.

Most Memorable Moment:

She can leap tall buildings with a single bound!

Captain Marvel has tracked down the “Newbird” and is ready to get some answers.  Meanwhile, a mysterious man who has the Deathbird working for him watches from below.

Birds of Prey #18 (2013)

Cover:

Damn, Strix’s mask is so tight that it is clinging to the inside of her mouth.

Plot:

Mr. Freeze wants revenge against the Court of Owls and is targeting Talons that may be able to help him get what he wants.  Meanwhile, Black Carnay tries to deal with the new changes in her life.

Our Heroes:

These girls and guy need a team building excerise.

Our Villain:

He should shave that last bit of hair off his head because it looks silly.

Our Side Characters:

Looking good for almost 100 years old.

Action:

For taking a shotgun to the head, there’s a lot less blood than I expected.

Dialogue:

Always listen to your elders.  They have sage advice that can even help out superheroes!

Art:

Why does Batgirl in the fourth page look like a Conehead?

Most Memorable Moment:

Poor punching bag.  They should really get Strix some new gloves to avoid these future problems.

Final Page:

That tagline for the next issue… ugh.

What We Should Take from This Comic:

Mr. Freeze wants Strix, who can help him get his revenge against the Court and to get her to come, he kidnaps Starling.  The team is now going to have to do a rescue mission.  However, one thing is off.  How the hell did Mr. Freeze get them all into the same room?

So why is Condor on this team exactly?

Justice League of America #2 (2013)

Cover:

Generic team shot for the win!

Plot:

A mysterious Secret Society has interested Amanda Waller so she has the barely new team of the Justice League of America go out to check things out.  However, they first need to meet with each other.  Meanwhile, Martian Manhunter gives President Obama a reason for why the team is needed in the first place.

Our Heroes:

Catwoman, you are going have to return that or he’s going to notice.

Our Villains:

Who are you Mr. Bowler Hat?

Our Side Characters:

Amanda Waller.  Paranoid as ever.

Action:

Only if you count the lasso action as the very end.

Dialogue:

Stargirl’s speech is rather… silly.

Most Memorable Moment:

There’s always that awkward moment when you meet your teammate for the first time and he’s covered in blood.
